Maria, the youngest daughter of James and Elizabeth Monroe, embroidered an exquisite sampler in 1814 at the age of 11. The sampler was discovered and acquired by Ash Lawn - Highland. The design for this counted cross stitch kit is an adaptation of Maria's original sampler.
