The flag of 1777 is a patriotic reminder of early historic heritage. The names of our first 13 colonies are stitched around the flag in their order of establishment. The design for the First Stars and Stripes is based on a Congressional resolution that declared the flag be 13 stripes alternate red and white, and the Union be 13 stars white in a blue field representing a new constellation.
